Product Description

Adipic Acid is a dicarboxylic acid widely used as aprecursor in the production of nylon, polyurethane resins, and other polymers. It is a white crystalline powder with a slight acidic taste. Adipic Acid isproduced commercially through the oxidation of cyclohexanone or cyclohexanol.

The primary application of Adipic Acid is in the manufactureof nylon 6,6, a type of synthetic polyamide used in fibers, textiles, carpets, and engineering plastics. Adipic Acid reacts with hexamethylenediamine to formnylon 6,6, which exhibits excellent strength, durability, and heat resistance.

Additionally, Adipic Acid is used in the production ofpolyurethane resins for foams, coatings, and adhesives. It serves as acrosslinking agent and helps impart flexibility and strength to polyurethanematerials.

Adipic Acid is also employed as a food additive (E numberE355) in certain food products as an acidity regulator and flavoring agent.

The handling of Adipic Acid should be done with care toavoid inhalation of dust and contact with skin or eyes. Adequate ventilationand personal protective equipment (PPE) should be used when working with thischemical.
