Product Description

MethylEthyl Ketone (MEK) is a commonly used industrial solvent and chemicalintermediate. It is a colorless, volatile liquid with a sweet, acetone-likeodor. MEK is produced by the dehydrogenation of secondary butanol.

The primaryapplication of Methyl Ethyl Ketone is as a solvent in coatings, paints, adhesives, and chemical processes where strong solvency and fast evaporationare desired. MEK is valued for its ability to dissolve a wide range ofsubstances, including resins, lacquers, and polymers, making it suitable foruse in various industries, including automotive, construction, andmanufacturing.

In additionto its role as a solvent, Methyl Ethyl Ketone is used as a denaturant foralcohol, a cleaning agent in electronics manufacturing, and a catalyst inchemical reactions. It is also employed in the production of plastics, textiles, and pharmaceuticals as a chemical intermediate.

MEK isconsidered relatively safe for use when handled according to recommendedguidelines. However, it is flammable and can cause irritation to the skin, eyes, and respiratory tract upon prolonged exposure. Adequate ventilation andproper personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves and goggles, shouldbe used to minimize risks associated with handling and use of Methyl EthylKetone.
