Product Description

Zinc Stearate is a metallic salt of stearic acid, consistingof zinc and stearate (C18H35O2) ions. It is commonly found as a fine whitepowder or granules and is produced by the reaction of stearic acid with zincoxide.

The primary application of Zinc Stearate is as amultifunctional additive and processing aid in various industries, includingplastics, rubber, paints, coatings, and cosmetics. Zinc Stearate functions as alubricant, release agent, and anti-blocking agent, improving the processing andperformance characteristics of these materials.

In plastics and rubber processing, Zinc Stearate is used asa mold release agent to facilitate the release of molded parts from molds andprevent sticking. It also acts as a lubricant, reducing friction duringprocessing and enhancing the flow of materials.

In the paint and coatings industry, Zinc Stearate serves asa flatting agent and texturizer, imparting a matte finish and enhancing theuniformity of coatings. It also functions as a water repellent andanti-corrosion additive in paints and primers.

Furthermore, Zinc Stearate is utilized in the cosmetics andpersonal care industry as an anti-caking agent in powders, a thickening agentin creams and lotions, and a binder in pressed powders and makeup products. Ithelps to improve product texture, consistency, and performance.

Zinc Stearate is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) for usein food packaging and pharmaceutical applications when handled according toregulatory guidelines. However, proper ventilation and personal protectiveequipment (PPE) should be used during handling to minimize inhalation of fineparticles.
